BIO
Maggie F. Levin is a Pisces, with a Virgo moon and Scorpio rising. She is the founding artistic director of the Real Theatre Company, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to interactive arts-experiences.
Maggie began directing for the premiere production of Alice Through the Subway System. After directing Waiting for Godot, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mary Zimmerman’s Arabian Nights, Macbeth & more, Maggie came full circle back to Alice for Real Theatre’s debut. Just after graduating from the Neighborhood Playhouse, she directed the musical HAIR. Creator James Rado was so taken with her production, he co-produced an extended run at Theatre Row in NYC.
Her original works have been produced at BLVD, Teatro Heckscher (at the Museo del Barrio), The People’s Improv Theatre & The Woodstock Playhouse, to name a few. She is the book writer for the new musical US, with music & lyrics by Peter Gabriel.
Maggie’s costume & makeup design has been featured everywhere from Talent Unlimited High School to the American Folk Art Museum. Her art direction & design can be seen in a multitude of feature films, shorts, and webisodes. Currently, she works as a visual consultant for the band Hell&Lula.
Maggie is a full-time fit model at Quiksilver & Current/Elliott and a hair model for Vidal Sassoon, TIGI, KMS/Goldwell and Bumble&Bumble. She has been featured as an actress in music videos for Amanda Palmer and British Sea Power, as well as the feature film “That’s What She Said,” directed by True Blood’s Carrie Preston. She resides in Los Angeles, where she drives a VW Bug named Percy and plays dress-up with her rocker boyfriend Russell.
